Riccoboni Holding helps get wheelchair tennis moving in Alessandria

On Sunday 20th September, we successfully wrapped up our 10th City of Alessandria Eugenio Taverna Memorial National Wheelchair Tennis Tournament, organised by SSD Volare (with its president, Paolo Bonino, and his colleagues, Luca Cosentino, Beppe Bianchi and Elena Romano), which took place at the Alessandria sports centre.

Twenty-two athletes took part (16 in the open division and 6 in the quad) from various Italian regions. They competed in 36 matches over 4 days across singles, doubles and consolation draws, all packed with high intensity, thrilling action and a will to win.
In the men’s Open draw, Ilaria Riccoboni, Riccoboni Holding’s communications manager, presented the award to Daniel Danila from Turin, who beat Enrico Giovanni Zeni by a final score of 5-7, 7-5, 6-1. “We are proud to renew our support once again this year for the ‘City of Alessandria - National Wheelchair Tennis Tournament’ now in its milestone tenth year”, explained Ilaria Riccoboni, Riccoboni Holding’s communications manager. “The Eugenio Taverna Memorial is now a landmark event that perfectly combines the spirit of elite competitive sports with the most authentic values of inclusion and social cohesion.

Seeing this event grow year after year just proves how sport is an extraordinary way to support collective growth and to break down any barriers. Here at Riccoboni Holding, we firmly believe in this initiative which showcases the talent, determination and passion of the extraordinary athletes who take part with their great talent and fierce competitive drive, while also offering the local region a vital point of reference for Paralympic sport, social inclusion and cultural growth in the Alessandria area”.
